Porsche Cayenne e-Hybrid Plug-in Model Coming in 2014

When the Porsche Cayenne gets its mid-cycle refresh in 2014, the German automaker will offer a plug-in hybrid variant to the SUV lineup called e-Hybrid.

Similar in concept to the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid, the e-Hybrid will gain a significant upgrade to electrical power and capacity, aiming for more than a 15-mile EV range. Porsche is aiming to have the electric motor produce around 95 to 100 hp, so in combination with the 333-hp supercharged V6 the Cayenne e-Hybrid will have a combined output of around 420 hp.
The German automaker is also planning to add its e-Hybrid system to the Panamera, and its fast charger that’s currently under development for its 918 Spyder could be used on both the Cayenne and Panamera e-Hybrid models.
In addition, Porsche is also considering an expansion of powerplant offerings for the US Cayenne lineup, adding a 4.1-liter V8 twin-turbo diesel with 377 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque.
